yesterday

yesterday was one of the greatest days of my life...ever!!!

i love my husband and going on dates with him {which we did yesterday}.

i ate lemon passion cake and smiled. huge goofy smile. i was in heaven.

i love talking with people who help me feel happy - no matter what!

i love eating warm baked goods, making said baked goods, and then pawning off all the extras to unsuspecting neighbors or visiting teachees. {this is of course a reference to the chocolate zucchini cupcakes i made, not the lemon passion cake because that was straight up from mac grill!}

i love amazing weather and sleeping with the windows open. this season rocks!

and of course, the culminating factor to the greatness of yesterday was that i got to hear my baby's heart beep for the first time!

in short, it was a day as near perfection as i have had in awhile.

official recognition

this is my new favorite quote / icon.

i turned in my resignation with c.c. - february 18, 2011. what a beautiful day! i love february 18! i am quitting with the understanding that as special projects {that can done from home} or emergency situations arise, they can call me to see if i am available to help. they plan to have my replacement set three weeks before i head out, just so that she/he "can be properly trained on all things alisyn."

it is nice to know that i will be missed.

i really wanted to buy some pumpkins and carve them, but we haven't gotten around to it. which makes me feel sad inside. i doubt we'll have time this week...but perhaps a miracle will present itself. we seem to be experiencing a lot of those lately. :)

mad hatter halloween

we celebrated halloween mad hatter style this year. everyone was required to bring a hat which we used for some wicked rounds of der große dalmuti {the great dalmuti card game}. we enjoyed white hot chocolate, dark hot chocolate, and wassail "shots" and soft serve ice cream with waffle cone chips and an assortment of toppings. it's always such a pleasure to get together with good friends who bring so much love, joy, and support into our lives. thanks everyone!

November 2010

bored, so why not?

CURRENT STATE:
cold. i even have a little space heater crankin' under my desk. i need to get some fingerless gloves so that my hands can feel warm but still type. i have to occasionally sit on them to warm them up enough to function. it's cold.

TODAY'S BREAKFAST: cream of wheat and a glass of milk. upon arriving at work, i had some hostess chocolate-covered donettes. something about those cheap, waxy little things...hmm. kaleb also offered me a carrot with peanut butter. never tried that before {honestly, it sounded disgusting}, but it wasn't half bad. i'll stick with celery and apples with peanut butter, but i tried it. almost always willing to try it once.

CURRENT OUTFIT: black gauchos {the only pants that fit during my current state}, big black boots, grey top with a fancy little necklace.

CURRENTLY LISTENING TO: the kitchen's oldies music and the pounding from a huge drill thing working on the freeway.

WHAT DID YOU DO LAST NIGHT: i stopped by some stores on my home from work - trying to find some maternity pants i like. totally frustrating! i talked with brooklyn on my way home, she's hilarious! i then made dinner and kissed e. we stopped by scott and steph's and then headed to dairy queen {thanks again for the peppermint ice cream offer, steph. it sounds delish, e just really wanted d.q.!}. we snuggled - i read and e watched an episode of "psych." then we went to bed.

FAVORITE COLOR: green is always the trump color, but i'm lovin' on grey and yellow right now. did you know that grey is the new black? why do all of my favorites become popular? so lame. the color palette for the nursery is going to be "brights" - red, blue, green, orange, and yellow. here is the bedding i'm considering. i found and bought the main art for the nursery, which i am particularly stoked about. it's paul frank's alphabet series.

FAVORITE HOLIDAY: birthdays. christmas. random holidays we've turned into celebration traditions like cinco de mayo, autumnal solstice, pumpkin carving, christmas day sledding, etc.

FAVORITE WORD: profundity.

SOMEDAY: i will write a book.

RANDOM: my house is a mess, parts of it are even downright filthy. that makes me feel sad inside. but the laundry's done. it's not all put away, but it's done. until monday, anyway. clothes shopping is frustrating, even more so now that i am prego. i pee every twenty minutes. my nails need to be trimmed. i'm ready for a nap. i only stay soundly asleep for the first 4 hours of the night, the rest is filled with choppy, discombobulated half-slumber. that makes me feel sad inside too. i am eating a delicious pink lady apple right now. it's crisp, sweet and everything an apple should be. i like a lot of the people i work with. i will genuinely miss some of them come february. and it's nice to know that i will be greatly missed too. i say this artwork yesterday and thought it was one of the coolest things ever. sorry about the swear word...

"sometimes i surprise myself by being pretty darn fantastic"

i still haven't figured out why i feel to compelled to type without capitals. i just haven't been extremely impressed with them as of late. does this mean i'm lazy? i really like to make things look awesome and pretty. and i think i'm pretty good at it. i wrapped a pecan torte for one of our awesome vendor contacts {birthday present...i randomly asked her when her birthday was forever ago and wrote it on the calendar...she had no idea that i remembered...it was a complete surprise and that rocked} with jute ribbon and a little hand-made card. wow. it was impressive. i love the pzazz element. it makes me happy.

grateful

i am the only one in the office now, it's practically silent and somewhat peaceful. almost a perfect picture except i'm sitting in an office chair in a white cinder-block building rather than the comfort of my own home. i have been longing for home {my home} more and more since becoming pregnant. there are times when february just doesn't feel close enough.

i marvel at medical advancements and the ability we have to see an unborn child. my baby is lovely. perfect. perfect for me and e. the prospect of motherhood is such an absolutely daunting and overwhelmingly thrilling phenomenon. sometimes it brings me to the verge of tears - tears of excitement, joy, and panic. i'm somebody's mom.

happy day!

we spent an enjoyable few days with all of my family. i love my family! i love that i fit into such a quirky, brilliant, and attractive group of people. people who have the spirit and love the Lord. i love that i have such committed and supportive parents. two individuals who genuinely desire nothing more than my happiness and well-being. they are selfless, giving, and almost exactly what i want to be as a parent. i also love that i am joined to such an incredible man - a man who loves everything i have been, all that i am now, and forever will become. he is my all.

i know that God lives and loves us - on a very real and personal level. i know that there is safety and extreme power in living our covenants. i am grateful for the covenants that i have entered into. i hope to always be found worthy of the immense blessings that surround me daily.
